Country Villa
Inspired by the rustic stone villa estates and shepherd's cottages of Corsica, the late architect Andrew Batey worked with Grassi to create a residential compound in St Helena. Batey, an Oxford-educated Central Valley native, deftly combined European classism with California vernacular architecture. To get the right effect, the team imported stone from near Villa Murtolli in central Corsica. A rustic watchtower and reflective pool punctuate the private quarters, guest house, and pool house. The Mediterranean styled terraces complement the wild dramatic views of Napa.
