Aperture Winery

Wine professional Jesse Katz hired Juancarlos Fernandez from Signum Architecture and Grassi to build Healdsburg's Aperture Cellars. Katz grew up surrounded by the work of his father, renowned photographer Andy Katz. He wanted the complex to reflect both wine and art. Fernandez designed the Hospitality Space around a ceiling feature emulating a hexagonal camera lens when it opens and closes.   From the building's center, six spaces radiate out to accommodate tasting rooms, kitchen, and restrooms. Floor to ceiling windows provide breathtaking views of the century-old vineyard and Russian River beyond.
