Revisiting a Modernist Masterpiece
Twenty-five years ago, Grassi & Associates worked with the modernist architect Jim Jennings to build a residence atop a wooded ridge in Napa Valley. The home consists of two parallel wings joined by an entrance hall surmounted by horizontal roofs. The stepped levels follow the hillside on the interior, and windows tease out the view. Grassi returned to the compound after the 2020 Glass Fire. "The house didn't burn, but there was extensive damage to the property. While we were there, we freshened up a few things in and around the house, but it looks as perfect as it did 20+ years ago; most amazing is the timeless design," Paul Niles noted.
