Howell Mountain Estate
Located on dramatic Howell Mountain high above the Napa Valley this agrarian compound references the area’s architectural vernacular. Grassi teamed with Field Architecture to build three adjacent structures. A central barn for entertaining flanked on one side with a wing containing the living room, kitchen, and master suite and the other, a designated space for guests. The buildings, grounded on subterranean rock, feature reclaimed old-growth Douglas Fir siding supported by a timber and steel frame. From the expansive glass windows with high gabled ceilings, the homeowners lookout to their cultivated vineyards and native forest.
