NO|MA House Café & Collective in St. Helena brought together Grassi and long-time collaborator architect Howard Backen, whose wife, designer Ann Ernish-Backen, envisioned the project. Grassi remodeled the 1920s North of Main (NO|MA) building that housed Backen restaurants Archetype and French Blue. The new iteration focused on architecture, lifestyle, and wellbeing. Accenting California's temperate climate, Grassi opened up the façade of the structure with a 17-foot pivot window and incorporated an indoor-outdoor bar. A 14-foot living green wall further blurred the division between the interior and exterior worlds. Visitors enjoyed the quiet luxury of the space.
